Hypnosis for surgery was something I had never heard of or considered but with Helen being a client of mine I was intrigued.
In 2023 I was diagnosed with a brain tumour which was really difficult to deal with being a mum, wife and running a business. To make it more worrying the tumour was attached to my optic nerve and had the potential to take my sight.
I found the best surgeon and decided to have the risky surgery in April 2024 to give me the best chance of retaining my sight and to try to prevent any other symptoms to add to the tremor I already had.
The closer it got to my surgery I was doing all of the practical things, getting family things organised, making sure everything in my business was delegated.
But I realised I had forgotten to think about my wellbeing, my mindset and I hadn’t taken the time to feel into my feelings and think about how I really felt.
Then came the realisation that I was terrified. What if it went wrong? What if I didn’t feel like myself again after the operation? What if something happened to my sign and I couldn’t watch my daughter go to her prom or my son play football?
So I reached out to Helen. Straight away she listened, I felt comfortable, heard, seen and understood. Helen really put me at ease and explained how the hypnosis worked and how it could help.
I had one session a few days prior to my surgery which really helped and Helen sent me recordings to listen to during my recovery.
Helen was amazing in helping me prepare for and get through my surgery. The recovery was hard following the 8 hour operation through my nose and coming round I realised I couldn’t breathe through my nose which made me feel really panicky. Listening to Helen’s recordings really helped me through that difficult time.
I would definitely recommend speaking with Helen and having hypnosis for surgery. The only thing I regret is waiting till it was so close to my surgery date. I would advise preparing much sooner.
Thank you Helen for your support, I can’t express how much you helped me.
